How did I Meet the Lord?

I went to a denomination until I was a senior in high school. I felt doubt there and I went to a Catholic Church for a while. I repented to the Lord every time in tears because of sins and failures in my daily life. But I felt disappointed and I was empty within always. Actually I did not know how I could get saved. I read many philosophy books, but those books left me empty. Everyday I shouted: “Life is just mutability”. I felt I had wasted my early years. Meanwhile I met my husband and I got married to him. When we came to the United States, we looked for a place to meet. But strangely when I was living in Monterey, CA, we didn't see any place. But a family of a friend of my husband was living there, through them we found the local church in July of 1991.

Whenever they visited us, his wife, a sister in the Lord, began to tell me about Christ, the Bible, and the Word. She also told me how I could get saved by calling upon the Lord's name (Romans 10:13). But at that time I didn't think what she said was real, so I rejected calling upon the Lord's name. Eventually, though I did. I also began to speak about the Lord to my husband. Every day I was in tears of joy. Suddenly my life was changed. Everything other than the Lord became vain in my eyes. I told that sister I wanted to go to that church and asked where the church was. The local church that I went to the first time had a meeting in a home with few believers. But I didn't feel strange, rather, I felt at home. From there, I began to meet with the local church.

When I first came, they were studying the Life-study of Genesis. It was a supply of God's life to me. The secret of human life that I sought for my life but I didn't know about was solved in that book. I realized what the goal of human life is. When I read The Economy of God written by Witness Lee, I knew God's plan which He made before the foundation of the world, which is that God in Christ went through a process of becoming a man and dying for our sins. Then He resurrected and became a life giving Spirit; so now He can come into many men and make them a corporate new man, “the New Jerusalem” (John 1:1, 14, 18; Colossians 2:9; John 1:29; 1 Corinthians 15:4, 45b; 1 Timothy 3:15; Ephesians 2:15).

As soon as I came into the local church, I attended summer and winter conferences on the Bible. The first one I attended was covered the books of Jeremiah and Lamentations. These conferences were enlightening

Reading The Genuine Ground of Oneness, by Witness Lee, I was convinced that in the local church we can sense the Lord's presence (Revelation 1:4, 11). I never had any doubt about meeting in the local church: more and more the local church is beautiful and lovely to me.

I moved from California to Seattle, now I am meeting with the church in College Park, Maryland. Wherever I go, I can see the same `golden lampstand', the local church (Revelation 1:11-12, 20). Thank the Lord and praise Him that He led me into the local church.
